About E2014

The Vikings strike back
In 1014 the Vikings had conquered most of Europe. From Great Britain in the west to Russia in the east. From the Northern tip of Norway in the north to Sicilia in south. The Vikings ruled most of Europe.

During the Jamboree, which is being held at Stevninghus Spejdercenter, we are going to unite the two worlds of the Scouts and the Vikings.

The Vikings were very good at working with their hands and making what they needed. This was only possible by working hard and together. In this way they were able to achieve amazing things. The Vikings
also knew how to have a great party, especially when there was something to celebrate! Working and playing hard are important parts of Scouting too, and so mixing them together will give us many exciting
experiences.

The camping areas will be a mixture of Scouting and Viking styles with a ‘city’ being built from wood and canvas. It will have a city centre with market stalls, workshops, a royal residence, and a harbor and Viking
ship down at Hostrup Lake. There will be many different activities to take part in; some will be for individuals, some for groups and some for the whole camp together! The activities will be using a wide
range of Scouting and Guiding themes and will also make the most of our modern life, embracing modern technology as well as giving people the opportunity to try those from our past. There will be Internet,
mobile phones and GPS all used to give an exciting twist to our Viking programme.

The Vikings went out into the world and learnt about other cultures- just like international Scouting and Guiding gives us the opportunity to do. During the Jamboree you will live tent-door by tent-door with scouts and Guides from other countries. You will have the opportunity to experience other cultures and languages, and see what Scouting and Guiding is like in other countries. There will be old Scout and Guide friends to meet up with and many new friends to be made. Friendships that can cross the world and last a lifetime!
‘The Vikings strike back’ unites young people, cultures and technologies in that special way that only Scouting and Guiding can!

1000 years ago the Vikings conquered the world - now it's your turn!
